JSW Energy’s Secured Thermal Capacity Reaches 10.7 GW post Signing of a Second 1,600 MW Thermal PPA with West Bengal Discom

This agreement marks the second 1,600 MW PPA signed with WBSEDCL following a similar deal in March 2025.

JSW Energy Ltd, through its subsidiary JSW Thermal Energy Two Limited, has secured a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) for a new 1,600 MW thermal power plant. Located in Salboni, West Bengal, this greenfield project will feature two 800 MW super/ultra-supercritical units. The facility is expected to be commissioned within six years and will utilise domestic coal allocated under the federal SHAKTI B (iv) policy.

This agreement marks the second 1,600 MW PPA signed with WBSEDCL following a similar deal in March 2025. With this addition, JSW Energy’s total secured thermal capacity is projected to reach 10.7 GW. This growth is driven by the 3,200 MW currently under Construction at the Salboni site and an additional 1,800 MW expansion option at the KSK Mahanadi plant, ensuring that all upcoming thermal increments rely on domestic fuel sources.

On a broader scale, JSW Energy now maintains a total locked-in generation capacity of 32.1 GW, which includes a diverse mix of operational assets, projects under construction, and a robust pipeline across thermal, hydro, and renewable sectors. The company is also advancing its energy storage footprint with 29.4 GWh of locked-in capacity. These developments align with JSW’s long-term strategic goals to reach 30 GW of generation and 40 GWh of storage by 2030, while targeting carbon neutrality by 2050.
