KPIT Technologies Share Price Falls 15%; Here's Why

KPIT Technologies expects its Q1FY27 dollar revenue to decline by around 1 per cent year-on-year, citing unexpected actions by certain European automobile OEMs, while maintaining a positive long-term outlook

Key Takeaways

On Wednesday, Indian benchmark indices traded higher, with the Nifty 50 rising 100.60 points, or 0.42 per cent, to 23,966.35. Despite the positive market sentiment, KPIT Technologies share price plunged 15.42 per cent to Rs 568 after the company issued a weaker-than-expected business update for the first quarter of FY27. The sharp decline was accompanied by heavy trading activity, with volumes rising to 163.6 lakh shares, significantly above the 30-day average volume of 21.2 lakh shares.

KPIT Technologies Expects 1 Per cent Decline in Q1FY27 Dollar Revenue

KPIT Technologies said its business was impacted during the final few weeks of the quarter and now expects reported dollar revenue to decline by around 1 per cent year-on-year in Q1FY27.

According to the company, the weakness was primarily driven by unexpected actions taken by certain European automobile OEMs, following their recent profit warnings and weaker business outlook. The company also expects EBITDA margin and net profit margin to decline sequentially, with the profitability impact likely to be greater than the decline in revenue.

Management Remains Positive on Long-Term Outlook

Despite the near-term challenges, KPIT Technologies believes the impact will be temporary. The company said that cost optimisation initiatives by customers are expected to increase outsourcing and offshoring opportunities over time. It also expects greater adoption of automation-led engineering solutions, which could support medium-term growth.

Management added that similar trends were witnessed during the COVID-19 period, when automobile companies increasingly outsourced engineering work to improve operational efficiency.

The company further highlighted that demand remains healthy in its Products and Solutions business. It also continues to witness strong traction in the Trucks and Off-Highway segment, while markets such as the United States, South Korea and India continue to deliver encouraging momentum.
