Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has received a Notification of Award (NOA) from NTPC Ltd for the main plant package of the 3x800 MW Telangana Stage-II supercritical thermal power project located in Peddapalli district, Telangana. The NOA was received on March 29, 2026.
BHEL had emerged as the successful bidder for the project in October 2024, and subsequently received a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) in November 2024 to initiate basic engineering work for the main plant package.
The contract, awarded by NTPC Ltd, a domestic entity, has been secured under an international competitive bidding process. The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, commissioning, and testing of the main plant package, which comprises Boiler, Turbine and Generator, along with civil and structural works.
The project is to be executed within a period of 62 months from the date of NOA, with completion of facilities (COF) targeted within this timeline. The total order value stands at over Rs 13,500 crore, excluding GST.
Both BHEL and NTPC Ltd are Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), and the transaction does not fall under related party transactions.
