Once fully operational, the facility will boast a massive annual capacity of over 5 lakh vehicles and 1 lakh tractors
Mahindra Group has announced a landmark investment of Rs 15,000 crore to establish its largest integrated automobile and tractor manufacturing facility in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Spanning 1,500 acres in the Vidarbha region, the state-of-the-art plant is scheduled to commence production in 2028. This strategic expansion is supported by a 150-acre supplier park in Sambhajinagar, designed to enhance localisation and streamline Logistics for the Nagpur site and existing plants in Chakan and Nashik.
Once fully operational, the facility will boast a massive annual capacity of over 5 lakh vehicles and 1 lakh tractors. The site was selected for its superior connectivity via the Samruddhi Expressway and robust rail links, providing efficient access to both domestic and international markets. The automotive wing will be equipped to handle multiple powertrains, including internal combustion engines and electric vehicles, specifically supporting Mahindra’s next-generation NU_IQ architecture through advanced digital manufacturing systems.
Beyond the Nagpur hub, Mahindra is also acquiring land in the Igatpuri-Nashik region to scale up current engine capacities and bolster its Advanced Technology business. This comprehensive 10-year investment plan involves acquiring over 2,000 acres across three distinct locations in the state. By integrating cutting-edge automation and sustainable practices, the Group aims to reinforce its leadership in the farm equipment sector and accelerate its global mobility strategy.
Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, said: “Mahindra’s decision to establish its largest integrated auto and tractor manufacturing facility in Maharashtra is a strong endorsement of the state’s robust industrial ecosystem and progressive policy framework. This landmark investment will generate significant employment, accelerate regional development in Vidarbha and surrounding areas, and further reinforce Maharashtra’s position as a leading manufacturing hub in India.”
Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director & CEO, Auto and Farm Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said: “This facility represents a bold step forward in Mahindra’s manufacturing journey. Designed to support our next generation of vehicles and tractors, it brings together scale, flexibility and advanced technology within one integrated footprint.
