The stock has recovered more than 45 per cent in the eight sessions following September 1. The sharp rebound comes after a period of intense volatility in which the stock had witnessed steep declines in August.

Stock Rebounds After Sharp August Correction

Rhetan TMT had touched its all-time high on August 11 before witnessing a sharp reversal. The stock declined around 20 per cent in a single session on August 11 and suffered another decline of around 20 per cent on August 13. After September 1, however, the stock reversed direction and began a strong recovery. The latest session marks the fifth consecutive trading day in which the stock has hit the upper circuit, taking the recovery from the recent lows to more than 45 per cent in eight days.

The stock's sharp rebound has taken place even as the broader market remained under pressure, with the Nifty 50 declining 0.52 per cent in Tuesday's session.

Company Explores Corrosion-Resistant TMT Bars

Alongside the sharp movement in the stock, Rhetan TMT has announced plans to explore entry into the Corrosion Resistant Steel (CRS) TMT bars market. In its September 5 exchange filing, the company said it is currently engaged in manufacturing Thermo Mechanically Treated (TMT) bars, including Fe500 grade TMT bars. It has also recently obtained the Bureau of Indian Standards licence to manufacture Fe500D, Fe550 and Fe550D grade TMT bars, expanding its existing product portfolio.

The proposed entry into CRS TMT bars is part of the company's strategy to diversify its product portfolio and explore additional market opportunities. CRS TMT bars are designed to provide enhanced resistance to corrosion and are particularly suited to coastal, marine and other corrosive environments.

CRS TMT Bars Target Corrosive Environments

According to the company, corrosion-resistant TMT bars can offer enhanced durability and longer service life for reinforced concrete structures while potentially reducing corrosion-related maintenance requirements. The product can be used in bridges, ports, marine structures, coastal infrastructure and other projects where exposure to corrosive conditions is a concern.

Rhetan TMT said entering this segment could allow it to access a specialised market, broaden its customer base and expand its addressable market. The company also expects the addition of the value-added product to create opportunities for higher sales volumes and revenue potential, while strengthening its product portfolio and competitive positioning.

Company Yet to Finalise CRS Manufacturing Plans

Importantly, the proposed CRS TMT business is still at the evaluation stage. The company has initiated preliminary steps to assess the feasibility of manufacturing CRS TMT bars. These include exploring suitable technology tie-ups and undertaking the required statutory, regulatory and government registrations or approvals, wherever applicable.

Rhetan TMT has stated that further steps will depend on the outcome of its technical and commercial evaluation, feasibility assesSMEnt and applicable regulatory requirements. Therefore, the filing does not confirm a final manufacturing investment, production capacity or commercial launch timeline for CRS TMT bars. The development currently represents an exploration of a new product category rather than a completed capacity expansion.

Rhetan TMT Expands Its Product Portfolio

The company's existing operations are centred on manufacturing TMT bars. The recent BIS licences for Fe500D, Fe550 and Fe550D grades have already expanded the range of TMT products that it can manufacture. The proposed CRS TMT initiative would take the product portfolio towards a more specialised, value-added category aimed at applications where corrosion resistance and durability are important.
