HCC Bags Rs 127 Crore Bhutan Order
Hindustan Construction Company announced that it has secured a contract worth approximately Rs 127 crore from Wangchhu Hydroelectric Power Limited (WHPL), Bhutan.
The contract involves the construction of diversion tunnels, hydromechanical gates and cofferdams for the Wangchhu Hydroelectric Project. The project is scheduled to be completed within nine months. According to the company, the contract was awarded following WHPL's technical and financial evaluation process.
Key Component Of Hydropower Project
The diversion works form a critical part of the overall Wangchhu Hydroelectric Project and are intended to facilitate the early commencement of major civil construction activities.
The company stated that timely completion of these works will support the project's implementation schedule and enable downstream construction activities to progress as planned.
Strengthens Presence In Bhutan
The latest order further strengthens HCC's presence in Bhutan's hydropower sector, where the company has maintained operations for more than three decades.
Bhutan is currently targeting significant expansion in power generation capacity under its 13th Five-Year Plan (2024–2029), with a goal of achieving 6,000 MW of installed capacity through continued investments in hydropower infrastructure.
HCC Established Hydropower Portfolio
Over the years, HCC has participated in several major hydropower developments in Bhutan, including the 1,020 MW Tala Hydroelectric Project, 60 MW Kurichu, 1,200 MW Punatsangchhu-1, 114 MW Dagachhu and 118 MW Nikachhu projects.
The latest contract adds to the company's hydroelectric project portfolio and reinforces its position in regional power infrastructure development.
HCC Institutional Shareholding
According to the latest shareholding data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) increased their stake in HCC to 10.92 per cent, compared with 10.41 per cent in the previous quarter. Meanwhile, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) reduced their holdings to 4.10 per cent from 4.75 per cent on a QoQ basis.
