According to exchange data, GQG Partners Emerging Markets Equity Fund sold 19.50 crore shares of GMR Airports Infrastructure on June 3, 2026, through a block deal at an average price of Rs 97.75 per share.
In a separate transaction, Goldman Sachs Trust II - Goldman Sachs GQG Partners International Opportunities Fund sold 16.27 crore shares at the same price through a bulk deal.
Combined, the two funds offloaded approximately 35.77 crore shares in transactions valued at around Rs 3,497 crore.
GQG Partners Emerging Markets Equity Fund sold 19.50 crore shares, representing approximately 1.85 per cent stake in the company, through a block deal valued at around Rs 1,906 crore. Fidelity International Small Cap Fund emerged as the buyer in the transaction, acquiring the shares at an average price of Rs 97.75 per share.
Fidelity Funds Emerge As Key Buyers
On the buy side, Fidelity Investment Trust - Fidelity International Small Cap Fund acquired 19.50 crore shares through a block deal at Rs 97.75 per share.
Additionally, FMRC Fidelity Advisor International Capital Appreciation Fund purchased 14.93 crore shares through a bulk deal at the same price.
The combined acquisition by the two Fidelity-managed funds amounted to approximately 34.43 crore shares, translating into an investment of nearly Rs 3,366 crore.
GMR Airports Infrastructure FY26 Marks Return To Profitability
FY26 marked a significant turnaround for the company as it reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 472 crore, compared with a net loss of Rs 817 crore in FY25. This was the company's first annual profit in nearly a decade, after reporting losses continuously from FY15 to FY25.
GQG Rebalances Portfolio; Cuts Exposure To GMR Airports
GQG Partners, founded by veteran investor Rajiv Jain, has been among the notable foreign institutional investors in Indian infrastructure and Large-Cap companies. The fund house drew significant market attention in 2023 after investing approximately Rs 15,446 crore (USD 1.87 billion) across multiple Adani Group companies, including Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, Adani Green Energy, Adani Energy Solutions and Adani Enterprises. The investment was among the largest foreign institutional bets on the Adani Group following the sharp correction witnessed in the conglomerate's stocks that year.
The latest transaction indicates a reduction in GQG Partners' exposure to GMR Airports Infrastructure through its Emerging Markets Equity Fund, while the fund continues to maintain investments across several Indian infrastructure-focused businesses.
Shareholding Pattern
According to the latest shareholding pattern, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) increased their stake in GMR Airports Infrastructure to 20.17 per cent in March 2026, compared with 18.96 per cent in December 2025, reflecting a QoQ increase of 1.21 percentage points.
Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) also raised their holding to 4.93 per cent from 4.59 per cent during the same period. Meanwhile, promoter holding remained largely stable at 66.33 per cent, compared with 66.24 per cent in the preceding quarter.
Public shareholding declined to 8.56 per cent from 10.19 per cent, while the total number of shareholders stood at 6.94 lakh as of March 2026, compared with 7.20 lakh in December 2025.
