Sector-wise, the Nifty Metal index witnessed the sharpest decline. The Nifty Financial Services, Nifty Bank, and Nifty Auto indices also remained under pressure. Meanwhile, the Nifty IT and Nifty Pharma indices outperformed the broader market.
