The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty-50 indices were trading positively on Monday with the Sensex up 1.76 per cent at 71,942 and the Nifty-50 up 1.80 per cent at 21,738.

About 2,271 shares have advanced, 1,649 have declined and 141 were unchanged on BSE. The BSE Sensex Index made a new 52-week high of 73,427.59 and the NSE Nifty-50 made a new 52-week high of 22,124.15 on January 16, 2024.
The broader markets were in positive territory, with the BSE Mid-Cap Index up 1.68 per cent and the BSE Small-Cap Index up 1.03 per cent. The top mid-cap gainers were SJVN Ltd, NHPC Ltd and Power Finance Corporation Ltd. In contrast, Shakti Pumps (India) Ltd, Dhunseri Ventures Ltd and VLS Finance Ltd were the top small-cap gainers.
On the sectoral front, the indices were trading mixed with the BSE Oil & Gas Index and BSE Power Index being the Top Gainers while the BSE Information Technology Index and BSE Teck Index were the Top Losers.
The market capitalization of BSE-listed companies was Rs 3,77,11,794 crore or approx. Rs 377 lakh crore as of January 29, 2024. On the same day, 473 stocks hit a 52-week high while 26 stocks touched a 52-week low.
