Sugar stocks witnessed a surge in stock prices during the morning session, with several companies touching Intraday highs. Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries Limited jumped 6.86 per cent to its intraday high, and as of 11:30 AM, the stock was trading at Rs 301, up 2.35 per cent. EID Parry (India) Limited also rose 2.5 per cent to its intraday high, and was trading at Rs 802, up 1.82 per cent. Dhampur Sugar Mills Limited surged 4 per cent to its intraday high, trading at Rs 118, up 1.56 per cent. Similarly, Shree Renuka Sugars Limited jumped 4.41 per cent to its intraday high, and was trading at Rs 23, up 1.53 per cent. Meanwhile, Balrampur Chini Mills Limited gained nearly 2 per cent to its intraday high, but was later trading at Rs 479, down 0.81 per cent during the session.
Government Increases Sugar Export Quota for 2025-26 Season
The government has approved an additional sugar export quota of 87,587 tonnes for the 2025-26 season (October-September), following requests from industry participants. Earlier, exports of 15 lakh tonnes were approved in November 2025, followed by an additional 5 lakh tonnes in February 2026, taking the total permitted exports to around 20 lakh tonnes (2 MnT).
Mills are required to complete exports by June 30, 2026. Those exporting at least 70 per cent of their allocated quota by this deadline will be allowed to ship the remaining quantity by September 30, 2026. Any shortfall below this threshold may lead to the unutilised quota lapsing, with the possibility of redistribution to other eligible mills.
Till now, India has exported around 315,000 tonnes of sugar between October and February in the 2025-26 season.
