Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has commissioned its 190.5 MW Solar FDRE project at Kalasar, Bikaner, Rajasthan. The project has been developed under SJVN Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy Tranche-1 and forms part of the larger 460 MW FDRE project.

115 MWh Battery Energy Storage System
The project integrates large-scale solar generation with advanced energy storage and grid-support technologies. It includes a 115 MWh advanced Battery Energy Storage System, designed to support grid reliability and enable the delivery of reliable and dispatchable renewable power.

According to the company, the project involved several execution challenges, including compressed timelines and global supply-chain disruptions affecting the availability of transmission-line materials, module mounting structures and other critical equipment. TPREL also adopted technologies including BESS, Harmonic Filter Bank and Static Var Generator systems.
Project Execution Milestones
TPREL completed the project's switchyard within three months, while the Harmonic Filter Bank was completed within one month. The company highlighted these milestones as part of its execution of the project within compressed timelines.
Renewable Capacity Reaches 12.4 GW
Following the commissioning of the project, TPREL's total renewable utility capacity has reached 12.4 GW. Of this, around 6.9 GW is operational, comprising approximately 5.6 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind capacity.
Another 5.5 GW is under various stages of implementation and is expected to be commissioned in phases over the next 24 months.
The company stated that it remains focused on developing clean energy solutions contributing to India's target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
