This Small-Cap Stock Surged 68% in 1 Week After Strong Q1 Results

The combination of stronger quarterly earnings and sustained buying interest helped Ujaas Energy deliver a sharp weekly rally, placing the stock among the top gainers despite volatility across the broader market.

Key Takeaways

Ujaas Energy emerged as one of the biggest weekly gainers, with its shares surging 68 per cent to Rs 257.80. The stock closed higher in all five trading sessions, reaching its highest level since October 2023, as investors responded positively to the company's June-quarter performance.

The rally began on July 31, when Ujaas Energy shares hit the 20 per cent Upper Circuit following the release of its Q1 results. The buying momentum continued through the week, with the stock repeatedly hitting the upper circuit even as the exchanges gradually reduced the circuit limit to 5 per cent.

The sharp price movement also prompted the NSE to seek clarification from the company. Ujaas Energy said it was not aware of any undisclosed information or development that could explain the unusual movement in its share price or trading volumes.

For the June quarter, Ujaas Energy reported a 31 per cent YoY increase in net profit to Rs 3.25 crore, compared with Rs 2.49 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Profit also increased sharply from Rs 0.42 crore in the March quarter.

Total revenue rose 11 per cent YoY to Rs 10.22 crore from Rs 9.21 crore a year earlier. On a sequential basis, revenue increased from Rs 6.92 crore in the March quarter.

The company's performance was supported by higher income from its Solar-related operations. Revenue from manufacturing and sale of solar power systems increased to Rs 6.67 crore from Rs 5.68 crore in the year-ago quarter. Revenue from solar power plant operations also rose to Rs 3.15 crore from Rs 2.54 crore.

Other income stood at Rs 7.19 crore, compared with Rs 6.56 crore in the June quarter of the previous year. On a sequential basis, other income jumped 466 per cent from Rs 1.27 crore in the March quarter. The EV segment contributed Rs 0.71 lakh, while unallocable income stood at Rs 0.39 crore.
