Axis Securities’ November 6, 2026 result update downgrades Juniper Hotels from BUY to HOLD and reduces the target price to Rs 225 per share from Rs 240. The downgrade follows a cut in FY27 revenue estimates to reflect delays in executing the growth pipeline, particularly the delayed revenue contribution from Westin Bengaluru.
The revised target price is based on 10x FY28E EV/EBITDA, compared with 11x earlier, and implies 8 per cent upside from the November 5 CMP of Rs 207.
Juniper Hotels reported a broadly in-line Q2FY27 operating performance. Revenue from operations increased 8 per cent YoY to Rs 249.5 Cr, while total income rose 10 per cent YoY to Rs 258 Cr. Revenue was 1.7 per cent below Axis Securities’ estimate of Rs 254 Cr, and EBITDA of Rs 83 Cr was 3.4 per cent below the estimate of Rs 86 Cr.
The EBITDA margin was 33.2 per cent, down 7 percentage points YoY and 4 percentage points QoQ. Axis Securities attributes the near-term pressure to gas-price inflation and a one-time GST 2.0 impact. On total income, reported EBITDA was Rs 91.4 Cr, up 5 per cent YoY, with a 35 per cent margin. PAT increased 121 per cent YoY to Rs 37.2 Cr and beat the broker’s estimate by 16.2 per cent, primarily because finance costs fell 50 per cent.
Portfolio RevPAR increased 12 per cent YoY to Rs 8,589 in Q2FY27. The improvement was supported by occupancy rising 3 percentage points YoY to 75 per cent and ARR increasing 8.6 per cent to Rs 11,514.
Room revenue grew about 11 per cent YoY, led by Grand Hyatt Mumbai, where room revenue rose 22 per cent YoY, and Andaz Delhi, where it rose 10 per cent YoY. F&B and MICE revenue grew 11 per cent YoY to Rs 78 Cr. Revenue at The Grand Showroom within Grand Hyatt Mumbai doubled YoY to Rs 8 Cr.
Management’s longer-term roadmap is to expand room inventory from 2,133 keys to more than 3,900 keys and double EBITDA by FY31.
Phase 1 of the 513-key Westin Bengaluru, comprising 238 keys, soft-opened in October 2026. Walk-ins are expected after Diwali and online bookings are scheduled to begin on December 15, 2026. However, the delay affects expected revenue in FY27 and FY28.
Other greenfield projects include a roughly 550-key luxury hotel in New Delhi, a 277-key Grand Hyatt in Guwahati and a 106-key wildlife resort in Kaziranga. Juniper has also signed a binding MoU to acquire the operational 287-key Novotel Imagicaa near Mumbai for Rs 248 Cr and is in advanced discussions for two additional brownfield assets. The inclusion of ROFO assets remains uncertain.
As of September 2026, the company had net debt of Rs 633 Cr and net debt to EBITDA of 1.4x. Management estimates total capex of Rs 1,930 Cr through FY31, substantially funded by internal cash surpluses of Rs 1,600 Cr to Rs 1,800 Cr. It expects peak gross debt to EBITDA to remain below 2.6x.
| Financial year | Revenue | EBITDA | PAT |
|---|---|---|---|
| FY27E | Rs 1,226 Cr | Rs 489 Cr | Rs 206 Cr |
| FY28E | Rs 1,486 Cr | Rs 597 Cr | Rs 268 Cr |
Relative to earlier forecasts, FY27E revenue and EBITDA were cut 4 per cent and PAT was cut 9 per cent. For FY28E, revenue and EBITDA rose 7 per cent, while PAT rose 9 per cent.
