Investment View and Key Monitorable

Motilal Oswal Financial Services’ November 1, 2026 result update on NTPC retains a Neutral rating. The broker identifies the pace of commissioning at NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) as the key monitorable.

The broker views NTPC’s expansion in battery energy storage systems, strong coal-plant utilisation, reaffirmed thermal and hydro additions, and commercial and industrial opportunities as positives. NTPC is targeting 5GWh of battery storage at thermal stations, while NGEL has a storage pipeline of about 40GWh.

NTPC is also exploring group-captive opportunities across thermal, hydro, renewable generation and heat supply, with an offer of 26 per cent equity participation to commercial and industrial consumers.
