Investment View and Valuation

Geojit Investments Limited’s October 14, 2026 result update on Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. retains a BUY rating and revises the target price to Rs 2,530, based on 16 times FY28E adjusted EPS.

Geojit’s core thesis is that TCS has steady growth visibility from broad-based international demand, client expansion, a robust transformation-engagement pipeline and investments in artificial intelligence, talent, delivery and industry solutions. The broker believes these initiatives should improve TCS’s execution capabilities and long-term competitive positioning.

Q2 FY27 Financial Performance

TCS reported consolidated Q2 FY27 revenue of Rs 73,188 crore, up 11.2 per cent year on year and 1.3 per cent quarter on quarter. Geojit attributed the performance to international-market growth, improved performance in BFSI, manufacturing and technology, artificial-intelligence revenue exceeding US$3.1 billion, and major deal wins.

Europe revenue increased 12.0 per cent year on year to Rs 24,155 crore, supported by the United Kingdom, where constant-currency revenue grew 4.5 per cent year on year. Adjusted PAT rose 5.1 per cent year on year to Rs 13,884 crore, while it declined 0.9 per cent sequentially.

Q2 FY27 metric Reported figure Year-on-year change Quarter-on-quarter change
Consolidated revenue Rs 73,188 crore 11.2% 1.3%
Europe revenue Rs 24,155 crore 12.0% Not stated
Adjusted PAT Rs 13,884 crore 5.1% -0.9%
EBITDA Rs 18,815 crore 4.7% Not stated

Profitability and Cost Pressures

Q2 FY27 EBITDA increased 4.7 per cent year on year to Rs 18,815 crore, but the EBITDA margin contracted 160 basis points year on year to 25.7 per cent and was flat sequentially. Geojit cited a 35.0 per cent year-on-year rise in other operating expenses and a 39.8 per cent increase in equipment and software-licence costs.

The broker nevertheless characterises the quarter as steady, with profitability remaining strong despite higher costs.

Demand Indicators and Management Commentary

Management commentary highlighted resilient demand, with Q2 FY27 total contract value of US$9.6 billion and broad-based client expansion. Clients generating more than US$10 million, US$5 million and US$1 million of revenue increased by 2, 6 and 11 respectively from Q1 FY27.

TCS headcount rose to 598,056 from 593,798 in the preceding quarter, while voluntary trailing-12-month IT-services attrition declined 30 basis points to 13.3 per cent.

Strategic Partnerships and MHP Acquisition

Geojit highlights strategic partnerships with Porsche AG, Best Buy, Aareal Bank and Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange. Porsche signed a five-year strategic agreement with TCS, while Best Buy’s India global capability centre is to transition to TCS and become an AI capability centre.

The proposed acquisition of MHP Management-und IT-Beratung GmbH, Porsche AG’s automotive and industrial consulting subsidiary, has an enterprise value of EUR 320 million. Geojit expects MHP, together with the partnerships, to deepen TCS capabilities in AI, cloud, digital transformation, infrastructure services and automotive consulting.

  • The Aareal Bank engagement covers infrastructure support, cloud operations, workplace services and cybersecurity.
  • The Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange engagement involves modernising trading, clearing and surveillance infrastructure.

Estimate Revisions and Outlook

The broker raised FY27E and FY28E revenue estimates by 1.1 per cent to Rs 2,93,649 crore and Rs 3,05,475 crore respectively. However, it reduced FY27E and FY28E EBITDA estimates by 3.1 per cent and 2.8 per cent, and lowered margin assumptions by 110 basis points and 100 basis points to 26.1 per cent and 26.3 per cent.

Forecast metric FY27E FY28E
Revenue Rs 2,93,649 crore; estimate raised 1.1% Rs 3,05,475 crore; estimate raised 1.1%
EBITDA estimate revision Reduced 3.1% Reduced 2.8%
EBITDA margin 26.1%; assumption lowered by 110 bps 26.3%; assumption lowered by 100 bps
Adjusted PAT Rs 55,337 crore; forecast cut 3.4% Rs 57,205 crore; forecast cut 3.3%

Key Constraints to the Constructive Outlook

The reductions in EBITDA, margins and adjusted PAT reflect higher subcontracting costs, growth investments and an expected roughly 50 basis point dilution from MHP. These cost factors and acquisition-related dilution are the principal constraints identified in Geojit’s otherwise constructive growth outlook.
