GMR Airports Commences Operations at Nagpur Airport

GMR Airports announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, GMR Nagpur International Airport Limited (GNIAL), has officially taken over the operations of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, Nagpur, with effect from June 25, 2026. The milestone marks the commencement of airport operations under the concession awarded to the company for upgrading, developing and operating the airport.

The company stated that agreements relating to the handover of airport assets and operations were executed between GNIAL and MIHAN India Limited in the presence of dignitaries from the Government of India and the Government of Maharashtra. The operational takeover follows the concession agreement awarded to GMR for the modernisation, development and long-term management of Nagpur Airport.

GMR Airports Strengthens Airport Portfolio

The commencement of operations at Nagpur Airport further expands GMR Airports' portfolio of managed airports in India. The company expects the project to enhance regional air connectivity, support passenger traffic growth and strengthen cargo infrastructure while contributing to economic development in Central India.

Nagpur's strategic location makes it an important aviation and Logistics hub, and the company aims to upgrade airport infrastructure and improve passenger experience under the concession agreement.
