The company said the initial pilot supply will comprise 10,000 units, following which monthly supplies will commence in mutually agreed quantities.
The company said the development marks its entry into the commercialisation of these advanced ammunition variants and validates its forging and machining capabilities. Balu Forge added that the development is aligned with its strategy of expanding its presence in the defence consumables segment.

Balu Forge stated that the 155mm ERFB BB and BT variants are part of the company's broader strategy to expand its defence manufacturing capabilities. The company highlighted the use of these variants across artillery platforms and their potential for both domestic consumption and global markets.
The company said it has recently secured NATO certification and has commenced mass production and commercialisation of standard 152mm and 155mm M107 projectiles in a Ready to Fill state at its automated Belgaum facility. It is now expanding its manufacturing capabilities to include the 155mm ERFB BB and BT variants.
