Mold-Tek Packaging Q2 Profit Rises 36 Per Cent as Pharma and Food Packs Drive Growth
Mold-Tek Packaging reported Q2 FY2027 profit growth of 36.06 per cent YoY to Rs 21.09 crore, aided by stronger pharma and food packaging volumes, improved product mix and operating efficiencies.
✨ Key Takeaways
Mold-Tek Packaging is expanding beyond its traditional paint-packaging base through higher-value pharmaceutical and food applications, while consolidating manufacturing operations to improve efficiency. The rigid plastic packaging maker reported a 36.06 per cent YoY increase in profit after Tax to Rs 21.09 crore for Q2 FY2027, supported by a richer product mix and higher operating leverage.
Revenue from operations rose 30.73 per cent to Rs 274.23 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, while earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, or EBITDA, increased 29.80 per cent to Rs 51.27 crore. Sales volume grew 10.08 per cent to 11,028.46 metric tonnes, indicating that revenue growth was aided by higher realisations and mix, alongside volume expansion.
Pharma packaging volume rose 26.30 per cent during the quarter, while food and fast-moving consumer goods packaging, including Q-Pack, grew 23.70 per cent. Paint packaging volume increased 8.61 per cent. These gains offset a 12.32 per cent decline in lubricant packaging volume, which was affected by disruption in base oil availability for certain customers.
Management said it passed on higher raw material costs under pre-agreed pricing arrangements, helping protect operating profitability despite geopolitical disruptions and material shortages. EBITDA per kg rose 30 per cent YoY to Rs 46.49. For the first half of FY2027, revenue increased 27.62 per cent to Rs 574.67 crore and profit after tax rose 23.18 per cent to Rs 46.67 crore, even as sales volume expanded 8.04 per cent.
The company expects recently added pharmaceutical packaging infrastructure, including its Panipat Unit-14 facility, to support further growth. Commercial production of IODEX containers is scheduled to begin in Q3 FY2027, while new packs being developed for three multinational companies are expected to contribute from Q4. Mold-Tek is also consolidating printing operations at Sultanpur in Telangana, a move intended to reduce wastage, improve turnaround time and lower operating costs.
As of 9:09 am on November 4, 2026, Mold-Tek Packaging shares were trading at Rs 304.00, down 3.99 per cent from the previous close. The stock was about 16.1 per cent below its 52-week high of Rs 362.50. Over one year, the shares have declined 17.45 per cent, compared with a 5.73 per cent fall in the BSE 500. The company’s market capitalisation stood at about Rs 2,104 crore.
What This Means for Investors
The quarterly outcome supports Mold-Tek’s effort to shift its sales mix towards pharma and food packaging, where customer-specific products and specialised production can improve unit economics. Profit growth outpaced volume growth in both Q2 and the first half, reflecting the contribution from higher-value categories and manufacturing consolidation. The planned launches in IODEX containers, ophthalmic packs and other new formats could widen the product portfolio, although their earnings contribution will depend on commercial ramp-up and customer adoption.
The development is supportive for the business outlook, but the recovery path is not uniform across categories. Lubricant packaging remains dependent on customers’ base oil availability, while Q-Pack demand is sensitive to raw material prices and end-market affordability. Input-cost pass-through has protected margins, but it can also raise working-capital needs when resin prices increase. At 33.06 times trailing twelve-month price-to-earnings, the valuation reflects expectations of continued mix improvement, volume growth and sustained efficiency gains.
