SBI reported standalone net profit of Rs 21,121 crore for Q1FY27, up 10.2 per cent from Rs 19,160 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The lender’s performance was supported by strong growth in net interest income and continued improvement in asset quality.

Net interest income (NII) increased 14.9 per cent year-on-year to Rs 46,992 crore from Rs 40,907 crore. Total interest income rose 8.5 per cent to Rs 1,27,896 crore from Rs 1,17,830 crore. Domestic net interest margin improved by 7 basis points year-on-year to 3.00 per cent.

SBI’s pre-provision operating profit stood at Rs 30,544.47 crore in Q1FY27, compared with Rs 33,529.18 crore in the year-ago quarter.

Asset quality continued to strengthen during the quarter. Gross NPA ratio declined to 1.47 per cent from 1.49 per cent in the previous quarter, while the net NPA ratio improved to 0.38 per cent from 0.39 per cent. In absolute terms, gross NPAs increased 1.11 per cent sequentially to Rs 74,272.06 crore, while net NPAs rose 1.74 per cent to Rs 19,158.49 crore.

SBI’s provision coverage ratio stood at 74.20 per cent, while PCR including AUCA was 91.82 per cent. However, fresh slippages increased to Rs 7,359 crore during the June quarter from Rs 5,548 crore in the March quarter.

The bank continued to record strong credit growth. Gross advances increased 18.63 per cent year-on-year to Rs 50,47,222 crore, while domestic advances grew 18.15 per cent. Agri advances rose 25.43 per cent, SME advances increased 22.33 per cent and retail personal advances grew 15.15 per cent.

Deposits grew 9.73 per cent year-on-year to Rs 60,05,805 crore. CASA deposits increased 9.30 per cent, with the CASA ratio at 39.24 per cent as of June 30, 2026. Retail term deposits also recorded healthy growth of 14.39 per cent year-on-year.

At around 2:20 PM on Friday, SBI shares were trading 2.82 per cent higher at Rs 1,115.40 on the BSE, reflecting a positive market reaction to the quarterly performance.
