BigBloc Construction Ltd reported a resilient start to FY27, with revenue from operations rising 40.5 per cent year-on-year to Rs 79.14 crore in Q1 FY27, compared with Rs 56.35 crore in the same quarter last year. The company said the performance was supported by healthy demand, improved operational efficiency and disciplined execution.
Profitability also improved significantly during the quarter. EBITDA jumped 386 per cent year-on-year to Rs 6.28 crore, with an EBITDA margin of 7.93 per cent, compared with EBITDA of Rs 2.29 crore in Q1 FY26. The margin also improved from 7.31 per cent in Q4 FY26. The company attributed the improvement to better production efficiency, cost-control measures and a rising contribution from value-added products.
BigBloc Construction's net loss narrowed sharply to Rs 71.95 lakh in Q1 FY27 from Rs 4.96 crore in Q1 FY26, reflecting improved operating performance and tighter cost management.
The company continued to expand beyond its core AAC blocks business, with commercial production commencing at its Umargaon facility for construction chemicals, including Block Jointing Mortar, Ready Mix Plaster and Tile Adhesives. The company is also increasing its focus on AAC Wall Panels and construction chemicals as part of its strategy to become an integrated green building solutions provider.
Consolidated capacity utilisation improved to 69 per cent in Q1 FY27 from 53 per cent in Q1 FY26 despite labour shortages. BigBloc Building Elements Pvt. Ltd. recorded capacity utilisation of 84 per cent, while SIAM Cement BigBloc Construction Technologies Pvt. Ltd. operated at 38 per cent utilisation during the quarter.
The company's expansion plans received a further boost with the acquisition of approximately 56,950 sq. metres of land near Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The company plans to establish what it describes as India's largest greenfield AAC Blocks manufacturing facility at the site. Construction is expected to begin after the monsoon season, strengthening its presence in Central India.
BigBloc Construction is also increasing its renewable energy capacity. Total rooftop Solar capacity across the group has reached 3.34 MW, supporting its sustainability initiatives while reducing dependence on conventional energy.
The company said it has also secured a project from Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for construction of a Bullet Train Station, strengthening its presence in large-scale infrastructure projects.
