The BSE Sensex closed above the important psychological mark of 60,000, while Nifty ended above the level of 17,850. A divergent trend was witnessed in broader market indices with Nifty Midcap 100 slipping lower by 0.78 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap 100 added 0.12 per cent. 

Domestic key benchmark indices witnessed profit booking at higher levels as market participants preferred to take profits off the table. As a result, the BSE Sensex and Nifty ended the day, off day’s high and settled with meagre gains of 0.27 and 0.17 per cent, respectively.
