Aditya Birla Group Cement Major Reports Q1 FY27 Results; Profit Rises 17% YoY to Rs 2,604 Crore; Check Details

UltraTech Cement Q1 FY27 Financial Performance

On a consolidated basis, net sales increased 16.28 per cent YoY to Rs 24,465 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 21,040 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

Profit after tax (PAT) rose 17.24 per cent YoY to Rs 2,604 crore from Rs 2,221 crore, while Profit Before Interest, Depreciation and Tax (PBIDT) increased 12.09 per cent YoY to Rs 5,146 crore from Rs 4,591 crore.

Operating EBITDA per tonne improved to Rs 1,214, compared with Rs 1,198 per tonne in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, reflecting operational efficiencies despite a competitive pricing environment.

Strong Volume Growth and Capacity Expansion

UltraTech's domestic sales volumes stood at 39.2 million tonnes during Q1 FY27, registering 13.1 per cent YoY growth. Capacity utilisation remained healthy at 81 per cent on an installed domestic grey cement capacity of 200.1 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

During April 2026, the company crossed the milestone of 200.1 MTPA domestic grey cement capacity and 205.5 MTPA global cement capacity, including its overseas operations. The expansion strategy continues through a combination of greenfield projects, brownfield expansions and debottlenecking initiatives to strengthen market reach, logistics efficiency and operational performance.

India Cements Integration Shows Improvement

UltraTech highlighted continued progress in integrating India Cements Limited following its acquisition.

India Cements reported a normalised profit after tax of Rs 52 crore in Q1 FY27 compared with a net loss of Rs 183 crore in the corresponding period, supported by 18.5 per cent growth in sales volumes, indicating improving operational performance and successful integration.

Acquisition and Other Developments

The quarterly results include the financial performance of Birla White WallCare Private Limited from May 29, 2025, following the acquisition of 6.42 crore equity shares for an enterprise value of Rs 234.43 crore. Consequently, the Q1 FY27 financials are not directly comparable with the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

The company also completed the settlement of the arbitration matter relating to the Dalla Super unit and mines in Uttar Pradesh, under which all related rights, interests, liabilities and preference share obligations were fully discharged on April 2, 2026.

Sustainability Initiatives

During the quarter, UltraTech commissioned an additional 20 MW of Waste Heat Recovery System (WHRS) capacity, taking its total installed WHRS capacity to 434 MW.

Combined with 1.4 GW of renewable energy capacity, the company achieved a green power mix of 47 per cent at the end of Q1 FY27. It also expanded the deployment of electric heavy-duty trucks for mining operations and clinker transportation as part of its green logistics strategy.

The company was recognised as an S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2026 Member in the Construction Materials sector for its sustainability initiatives.
